Empowering Youth especially Girls in Zanzibar Through Tourism Training.

Project Title: Awareness Rising Project
Project Implemented by; Tanzania Mwangaza staffs.

🌍✨ Over 2,000 students from 18 secondary schools across Zanzibar have been introduced to career opportunities in tourism and hospitality through the Awareness-Raising Project: Ways Out of Poverty through Vocational Training for Girls and Young Women in Zanzibar.
The initiative aimed to break barriers by educating young women about the vast career possibilities in the tourism industry. The campaign included workshops, career guidance sessions, interactive discussions, and school visits, emphasizing the importance of vocational training in creating sustainable career paths.
🏫 Key Activities & Achievements:
✅ Established 18 Tourism Clubs to encourage continued learning and engagement.
✅ Launched a Tourism Essay Competition to foster critical thinking about the industry.
✅ Distributed 2,500+ brochures highlighting tourism career paths and training opportunities.
✅ Strengthened partnerships between secondary schools and Herrnhuter Academy for future vocational training collaborations.
✅ Provided career guidance sessions, addressing common misconceptions about tourism careers and answering students’ questions on qualifications, job opportunities, and language skills.

Key Takeaways from the Visits:
📌 Many students showed great interest but lacked prior knowledge of tourism career opportunities.
📌 Career counseling services were limited in some schools, making vocational guidance crucial.
📌 Students expressed a strong desire to learn English and German to improve their job prospects in the tourism sector.
📌 Female students were particularly interested in hotel management, food & beverage services, and customer service roles.
